Defense Minister receives Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces

(Bqp.vn) - On October 24, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang hosted a reception for visiting Senior Lieutenant General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces.

General Phan Van Giang conveyed his greetings to Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera, the Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, through the Cuban guest. He expressed understanding for the hardships and obstacles that the Cuban people are facing. General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam’s Party, State, people, and military are constantly prepared to provide assistance to Cuba to the best of their abilities, just as Cuba had supported Vietnam in the past with the unwavering spirit of “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to make sacrifices.”

For his part, Senior Lieutenant General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo underscored the exceptional solidarity and friendship between the two nations, a bond originated by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban leader Fidel Castro and nurtured by successive generations of leaders from both parties, states, people, and militaries.

He extended the regards of Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera to General Phan Van Giang and updated the host on the results of his previous talks with Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister.

Expressing deep appreciation for the positive outcomes of the talks, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense consistently strive to provide favorable conditions and actively guide their agencies and units to effectively and practically implement the agreements reached by both parties.
