(Bqp.vn) - Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception for Indian Defence Attache to Vietnam Colonel Dheeraj Kotwal in Hanoi on December 27.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that on the basis of traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership, the Vietnam - India defence cooperation has been steadily consolidated and strengthened, achieving practical results. The success of Defence Minister Phan Van Giang’s visit to India in June 2023 has provided significant motivation to elevate the defense cooperation between the two countries to a new height, especially in the following areas: delegation exchanges, defence policy dialogues at deputy minister level, training, and cooperation between armed forces and branches.

He proposed that both sides continue to coordinate closely to effectively implement contents agreed by the two defence ministers during the visit to India in June 2023. Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien highly appreciated the efforts of Colonel Dheeraj Kotwal in promoting defence cooperation between the two countries in recent times. He expresses confidence that Colonel Dheeraj Kotwal would continue to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries, making it deeper, more practical and efficient.

The Indian Defence Attache emphasised that the bilateral defence cooperation is one of the bright spots in the relationship between the two countries. Colonel Dheeraj Kotwal affirmed that he would continue to make important contributions to promoting the development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in general, and defence cooperation in particular.
