Defense leader receives New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam

(Bqp.vn) - On December 27th, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Defense Minister, received New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Tredene Dobson.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Ambassador Tredene Dobson on her successful tenure in Vietnam, which has made an important contribution to promoting the strategic partnership between the two countries in various areas, such as economy, politics, defense, security, culture, education, etc. This strategic partnership also contributed to peace, stability, and common development in the region and the world.

Regarding defense cooperation, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirms that despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, bilateral defense cooperation activities have continued to be actively and effectively implemented, in accordance with the needs and capabilities of each party, based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation signed in 2013. The leaders of the two defense ministries and armed forces have regularly engaged in contact and exchange during mutual visits, on the sidelines of multilateral events, or through consultative and dialogue mechanisms. The official visit of the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army to New Zealand in July 2023 has agreed upon various important cooperation activities, contributing to the further development of defense cooperation between the two countries, he affirmed.

For her part, Ambassador Tredene Dobson thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for providing favorable conditions for her to successfully complete her missions in Vietnam. The Ambassador affirmed that in her new position, she would continue to make positive contributions to strengthening the cooperative relations between the two countries in the future.
