(Bqp.vn) - Vietnamese Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang received outgoing Japanese Ambassador Yamada Takio on April 24.

General Phan Van Giang congratulated Ambassador Yamada Takio on his successful tenure in Vietnam, contributing to the promotion of the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world between Vietnam and Japan in various fields, including defense cooperation. General Phan Van Giang recognized and highly appreciated Ambassador Yamada Takio’s leadership and guidance, despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic during his tenure. The ambassador has closely coordinated with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to promote the development of the friendly relations between the two countries, particularly in areas such as exchange of delegations, defense policy dialogues, consultation of naval, land, and air officers, and exchanges between military branches and programs supporting capacity enhancement.

For his part, Ambassador Yamada Takio respectfully thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for its close support, coordination and assistance during his working term in Vietnam; emphasizing the important role of defense cooperation in the overall Vietnam - Japan relationship. He affirmed that he would continue to make efforts to contribute to promoting the growing relationship between the two countries in the future.
