ActionsVietnam and India hold defence strategy dialogue
(Bqp.vn) - The 7th Vietnam-India Defence Strategy Dialogue was held in New Delhi, India, on September 26th, with the attendance of delegations from the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence, led by Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh, and the Indian Defence Ministry, led by Deputy Secretary Shashi Kant Shamar.
During the dialogue which took place in the spirit of friendly ties, mutual understanding and mutual trust, the two sides exchanged views on the security situation in the region and the rest of the world, regional security structures and bilateral defence ties.
They expressed their happiness at the fruits of defence ties between the two countries. Both sides agreed to accelerate the cooperation between the two Defence Ministries in the framework of the Vietnam-India Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
On the afternoon of the same day, Indian Secretary of Defence A.K. Antony and Indian National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon warmly received Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh. At the reception, the Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister informed the achieved results of the dialogue and his working sessions with some Indian army units to the host.
On this occasion, he expressed deep and sincere gratitude for the considerate reception given to the Vietnamese delegation by India’s government, Defence Ministry and army units. He also expressed his confidence in the two sides’ cooperation in some fields, including the national defence industry, military techniques, training and practising. Moreover, he also hoped that the Indian Defence Ministry would boost its participation in peace-keeping forces.
At the reception, Indian leaders expressed their pleasure at the visit of the Vietnamese delegation, as well as the co-chairmanship of Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh at the 7th Vietnam-India Defence Strategy Dialogue. They stressed the similarity in Vietnamese and Indian cultures and socio-economic development goals, as well as the mutual viewpoints on various international and regional issues.
Pleased at the achieved results of the dialogue, the two Indian leaders showed their confidence in the continued enhancement of the all-round cooperative ties in various fields of the two countries and the two armies.
Notably, the two sides trusted and determined that inked agreements will be brought to reality in contribution to stepping up fruitful ties for the mutual benefit of the two countries, and for peace and development in the region.
Vietnam will host the 8th Vietnam-India Defence Strategy Dialogue in 2013.
