Defence Minister receives head of the European Union Delegation to Vietnam

(Bqp.vn) - Defence Minister General Phan Van Giang hosted a reception on June 15 for Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti, head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Vietnam, who came to say goodbye before ending his working term in Vietnam.

Addressing the reception, General Phan Van Giang affirmed that Vietnam and the EU have effectively cooperated in defence, in line with the Vietnam - EU Partnership and Cooperation Framework Agreement (PCA), and the agreement between Vietnam and the EU on the establishment of a framework for Vietnam’s participation in crisis management activities of the EU (FPA).

Congratulating Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti on his successful working term in Vietnam, General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the impressive results of defence cooperation between the two sides, particularly the dialogue on defence and security, training, UN peacekeeping, and assistance in overcoming the war consequences.

General Phan Van Giang believes that in his new position, the Ambassador will continue to achieve many successes, contributing to promoting the cooperative relationship between the EU and Vietnam, for peace, stability, cooperation, and common development of the region and the world.

For his part, Ambassador Aliberti highly appreciated the close cooperation between Vietnam and the EU, stressing that their relationship has developed very strongly, and there is more potential for further development. He affirmed that he would continue to do his best to bring the friendship and cooperation between the EU and Vietnam to a closer and more comprehensive development in the coming time.
