Defense leader receives Chief of Office of the Lao Ministry of National Defense

(Bqp.vn) - Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception for Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith, Chief of Office of the Lao Ministry of National Defense on October 12.

At the reception, the two generals discussed the progress of bilateral defense cooperation and acknowledged significant achievements in various areas. They emphasized the continued importance of defense cooperation as a key aspect of the Vietnam - Laos relationship. Both sides agreed to enhance defense collaboration, with particular emphasis on successfully organizing the inaugural border defense friendship exchange at the ministerial level among Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

For his part, Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith informed the host the results of his working meetings with units under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. He highlighted the value of the knowledge and experiences shared by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, which would be very useful to the Lao Ministry of National Defense in the process of preparing and organizing ASEAN 2024 military and defense events.

Appreciating the proactive preparations undertaken by the Lao Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense would provide assistance and support to Laos to successfully organize ASEAN 2024 military and defense events.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien believed that the Lao Ministry of National Defense, as Chairman of the 2024 ADMM and ADMM-Plus, would continue to contribute to the development of ASEAN defense cooperation, thus promoting the practical cooperation, upholding solidarity and unity, and reaching high consensus among ASEAN countries and between these countries and their partners.
