(Bqp.vn) - Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang hosted a reception for Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to Vietnam Choi Young Sam in Hanoi on September 28.

Addressing the reception, General Phan Van Giang congratulated Choi Young Sam on his appointment as Korean Ambassador to Vietnam. He believed that the diplomat would complete his tasks, make important contribution to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the RoK in various fields, including defense cooperation. He emphasized that on the basis of the flourishing relations between the two countries, the bilateral defense ties have been promoted and achieved positive outcomes.

He said that the potential for bilateral defense cooperation is huge, especially in areas the RoK has strengths and Vietnam is in need, such as high-quality human resources training and defense industry. General Phan Van Giang expressed his hope that Ambassador Choi Young Sam would pay attention and create conditions for the two defense ministries to implement agreed cooperation contents.

For his part, Ambassador Choi Young Sam emphasized that the RoK - Vietnam relations are developing very well, expressing his honor to take on the position of Korean Ambassador to Vietnam after the two countries have upgraded their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. He affirmed that in his working position, he would make his utmost efforts to promote the relationship between the two countries in all fields, including defense cooperation. The Korean diplomat also stressed that defense cooperation is among the important cooperation areas between the two nations.
He spoke highly of the significance and outcomes of the host’s official visit to the RoK in March this year, saying that it helped concretize the contents of the Vietnam - RoK comprehensive strategic partnership and affirmed to strive to promote the contents reached during that visit, including delegation exchange, cooperation between arms and services, defense industry, etc.
