(Bqp.vn) - On July 26, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien received Senior Colonel Pan Tao, Chinese defense attaché to Vietnam.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien confirmed that Vietnam always treasure the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China. He stressed that the comprehensive cooperation between the two parties and states is a premise to boost the bilateral defense cooperation in various fields in line with the spirit of the Vietnam - China joint statement on continuing to strengthen and deepen the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership issued in the official visit to China of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in November 2022.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested the two sides enhance bilateral defense relations according to the signed documents and agreements and the common perception reached by the two sides after the meeting between the two defense ministers in the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to China in June 2023. He mentioned such cooperation fields as delegation exchange and border management and protection. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien also asked the two sides to promote the signing of a number of agreements on naval and border cooperation. He asked the functional agencies of the two defense ministries to closely coordinate and promptly complete all preparations to successfully organize the eighth Vietnam - China border defense friendship exchange, scheduled for this September.

For his part, Senior Colonel Pan Tao stressed that the Chinese Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam would continue to coordinate with competent agencies under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to implement cooperation plans set for the coming time, including the organization of the eighth Vietnam - China border defense friendship exchange.
