Vietnam, South Africa strengthen defense ties

(Bqp.vn) - Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien on June 12 hosted a reception for South African Defense Attaché Colonel Eugene Dudley, who came to say goodbye before ending his working term in Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that Vietnam always considered South Africa one of Vietnam’s active partners in Africa in the field of defense. In recent years, the defense cooperation relationship has been promoted by the two sides in line with the Agreement on relations in the field of defense signed in 2006.

He also highly appreciated Dudley’s contributions in his post and as the head of the military attaché delegation of foreign countries in Vietnam during his working term.

For his part, Colonel Eugene Dudley thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and authorities for supporting him to successfully complete his working term in Vietnam. He hoped that the cooperation between the two countries would be maintained and further promoted in the coming time.

Colonel Eugene Dudley affirmed that he would continue to actively contribute to and support the development of defense cooperation between Vietnam and South Africa.
