In her opening remarks, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan noted that during the two-day session, deputies will give comments on the preparatory work for the 14th NA’s first meeting and a government report on the implementation of the socio-economic development and state budget tasks in the first six months of the year, as well as orientations for the latter half.

They will also discuss draft programmes on monitoring activities of the NA and NASC and the NA’s law and ordinance building in 2017, alongside draft adjustments to the 2016 law and ordinance building programme, the NA leader said.

NASC members will comment on the structure, organisation and members of the government in the 14th NA; a draft government decree stipulating specific mechanisms on investment, finance, budget and management decentralisation in Da Nang; and the issue of moving the NA Television Channel from Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) to the NA Office, she added.

In the morning session, deputies heard two government reports on the results of the socio-economic development and state budget tasks in the first half of 2016 and directions for the latter half, as well as two evaluation reports from the NA Economic Committee and the NA Finance and Budget Committee for the government reports.

NASC members agreed on the government’s reports, saying that in the first six months, the government produced the drastic guidance for specific issues and put forward timely measures to deal with problems.

Deputies also discussed solutions to socio-economic development and ensuring security and national defence in the remaining months of the year, with an emphasis laid on implementing preferential policies for families of national contributors, supporting people affected by droughts, and issuing relevant policies to stabilise the lives of people and recover production in the regions hit by the recent environmental incidents in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue.
